Good Times at Fort Riley

Well, I've been here at Fort Riley since Sunday and this is the first time I've been able to get on the Internet. I think I'll have better access in Afghanistan. Things are good. Nothing really to report of great interest. I've been issued a bunch of stuff... some of this stuff, I have brought with me... so now I have too much stuff. I'll have to send some of it home and keep a few items that will be good to have as spares. It's been really cold and snowy here. I've gone running twice and it was not fun. Partly because I am way out of shape... and partly because running into the wind when it's 2 degrees out is just not fun.

I have gotten a lot of shots and I got nailed with the smallpox vaccine. My arm has only itched a little so far. I'm sure it will be unbearable in a day or two. But hey... If someone ever hits me with it... I'll be good to go.

I went to Manhattan, KS today... nothing to exciting to see.

I'm hoping that I'll be able to post more as soon as I can reliably get on the net.

If you have a lot of time on your hands, Lawrence is actually a cool city. Other than that, I usually just refer to the whole state as Kans-ASS. The state has soime other great offerings for site seeing such as the geometric center of the US memorial, and my old office at the old US Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth. woo.

Anyway, since there is absolutely nothing else to do though, you can stay focused on your training! At least once though, you need to have a big old Kansas City strip steak (I know you New Yorker's like the NY strip, but the Kansas City strip is pretty tough to beat). If people in Kansas know anything about anything, it's beef.

Hang in there, and keep up the bloggings.
