I Agree with the 9th Circuit's Judgement in the Newdow Case

In my life, I have definitely been witness to the presence and power of God, whom I believe in strongly. I also believe in angels. I know this because I married one. But, having looked at the text and context of the legislation for the adding of the words "under God" to the Pledge, it is obvious that these words were not added with the intent of praising of our Creator, but to intimidate and indoctrinate during the time of the Red Scare. I believe in the words "under God." I am also proud to say them. However, I do not believe that any child in this country should be forced to say them, either by requirement or through blatant peer pressure. For that reason, I am in support of the 9th Circuit's decision. I know this is not a popular decision, but when it comes to the law, sometimes it is necessary for decisions such as these on the federal level. For those too ignorant to differentiate their beliefs from the operating laws of the U.S. Federal Government, being in support of this decision does not make you a communist. It only recognizes the fact that the Federal Government was not created and is not there to indoctrinate Christianity (or any religion) into every American. You can believe in God without using the government to impose your beliefs on others. I am proud to be a part of this nation. I recognize that we also have a higher calling. Part of what makes this country great is that I can't force you to agree with me.
